    iPhone Won't Update? 5 Simple Fixes Anyone Can Try

    If your iPhone keeps saying “Preparing Update” or “Unable to Install,” don’t panic. Most update problems come down to storage, Wi‑Fi, battery, or a small setting. Here are the five easiest fixes, in order - start at the top and stop when it works.

    • Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
    • Aim for at least 3–5 GB free. Tap "Offload Unused Apps" or delete large videos/photos you don't need right now.
    • Try the update again: Settings > General > Software Update.

    Give Wi‑Fi a quick refresh

    • Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off.
    • Toggle Wi‑Fi off and back on. If possible, move closer to the router.
    • Avoid public/hotel Wi‑Fi - updates can be blocked. Home Wi‑Fi is best.
